Mexico Mission Trip

On Saturday April 9th, Grace Chapel's High School Mexico Mission Trip team had their first team meeting, along with their group and individual pictures.

Chris G, Grace Chapel's High School youth pastor, led the team meeting about how to work together as a team during the trip and how to not put each other down. This is his first time leading a group down to Mexico.

Raelene G. plays a big part in the mission trip because she is organizing all of the events and transportation the kids and staff will be doing. They have already booked their trip and are going June 24th to July 2nd of this year.

Emma C, 11th grader from Sherwood High school is going to Mexico for her third time with the High School Ministry. She has been involved with VBS, performing skits, and building homes for the people living there every time she has gone.

While getting ready for more group pictures, the boys, being boys, goof off while Raelene tries to keep everyone in order.

The group going to Mexico are all going for their first time except three of the staff and one of the teens. They will be going to Papalote, Mexico.

During the mission trip the team will help serve food to the people who are less fortunate, mixing cement, and building homes, or a small church.

Until they go on their trip in June, the team will be doing community service and team building activities. Once it gets to the end of June they will have completed around 9 service events like serving downtown or helping around the city, and raised enough money to go to Mexico.

Together they will all work to change lives here in Oregon and down in Mexico, while still having fun.

Later in the night, Bernie watches TV shows like Extra and Dancing with the Stars. Almost every night she gets a call on her new phone (that she is very excited about buying because of the loud speaker it has). At around 9:00 she talks to her son David until she is tired and goes to bed.

Later in the day, Bernie does things around the apartment that she shares with her son and his family. She reads her bible, 4th time reading all the through, doing laundry, dishes and shopping for groceries.

Later that morning, Bernie goes out to lunch with her friends Alice Scott and Sue Fronius at Taco Bell. They spend around 2 hours talking about old friends, gossiping and sharing vacation stories.

Before going anywhere Bernie can not go without her makeup. After doing so, she puts it out of reach for her grandchildren have used her lipstick to color her dresser in the past.

Wednesday March 23rd, Bernie Leisman, who turned 88 this January, starts her day like any other eating her breakfast, a combined mixture of Toasted Oats and Honey Bunches of Oats. She wakes up every morning at 8:00 to start her day.
